In collaboration with Annie Sloan, this original artwork has been created exclusively for Oxfordshire ArtWeeks, inspired by the Bodleian's medieval bestiary collection.
The Cat is another frequent character in the Bestiaries and has been given many competing characteristics depending on who compiled that Bestiary. It's mostly agreed, however, that they are wily, with excellent eyesight, and not to be trusted. Annie's cat sits proudly; unsurprising since cats are so enamoured with their own beauty that if they stand over a well to see their reflection they will sometimes fall in!
