Geological Map of the British Islands - Art Print

£175.00
SKU: BODS-102874

The Bodleian Libraries are pleased to announce a thrilling collaboration for Oxfordshire ArtWeeks 2025 with award winning Icelandic artist, Kristjana Williams.

Discover the inspiration behind Kristjana's newest map art of Great Britain - a geological survey exploring the islands' mineral resources and rock masses.

Experience the wonder of the Earth's elements and geological features as they meet the majestic animals of the mountains. Ibex, Antelope, and Mountain Goat lead you on a journey through the soaring apexes of the Great British Isles, while a distant seething volcano symbolizes the ever-changing tectonic plates beneath. Lush plants thrive in the rugged tundra, revealing the evolution of life within their corolla; petals showcase rich shell fossils and dazzling cobalt crystals, while emerald minerals weigh down tree canopies. Amidst pre-historic creatures and dinosaur footprints, you'll also find traces of human ingenuity - from ancient navigation tools to fossil light bulbs and geology equipment - and ships bound for distant lands on exploratory journeys.
