A microfibre glasses case featuring a detail from the illustration 'Marco Polo sets sail from Venice', from the Bodleian Libraries' Archive.

The city glows like a vision in the imagination of a medieval illuminator, Johannes, working in London at the start of the 15th Century. In his glorious frontispiece to a manuscript of Marco Polo's 'Description of the World', the explorers leave Venice's familiar sights as they set sail in 1271 towards the marvellous East.
