J.R.R Tolkien, Oxford don and author of the best-selling fantasy works, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, was also a talented artist who illustrated his own works. Working in pen-and-ink, water-colours, and coloured pencils, his artwork ranges from natural landscapes painted on family holidays, to fantastical beasts such as fearsome dragon, 'Smaug the Mighty'. His collection of artworks was given to the Bodleian Library by the Tolkien Trust in 1979 and is one of our most treasured possessions.

This notecard wallet contains 10 notecards, 2 each of 5 designs taken from Tolkien illustrations.
